Chrome Extension
The Brikly Chrome extension lets you capture invoices directly from your supplier's website - no downloading and re-uploading required. It sits in your browser's side panel and sends invoices straight into Brikly for processing.
What the extension does
Many suppliers provide invoices through online portals (e.g. Brakes, Bidfood, JJ Foodservice). Without the extension, you would need to:
- Log in to the supplier portal.
- Find and download the invoice PDF.
- Open Brikly.
- Upload the downloaded file.
With the extension installed, you skip steps 2-4. The extension detects when you download or view an invoice on a supplier portal and offers to send it to Brikly in one click.
Installing the extension
- Open Google Chrome on your computer.
- Navigate to the Brikly Chrome Extension page (your administrator can provide the link, or find it in Settings > Integrations within Brikly).
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Confirm the installation when prompted.
- The Brikly icon appears in your browser toolbar.
The extension requires Google Chrome. It is not currently available for Firefox, Safari, or other browsers.
Setting up
After installation:
- Click the Brikly icon in your toolbar to open the side panel.
- Sign in with your Brikly account credentials.
- Select the workspace you want invoices sent to (if you have access to more than one).
- You are ready to go.
How it captures invoices
The extension works in two ways:
Automatic file detection
When you download a PDF or image from a supplier portal, the extension detects the download and shows a notification:
Invoice detected - "Invoice_12345.pdf" downloaded from brakes.co.uk. Send to Brikly?
Click Send to transmit the file directly to your Brikly account for processing.
Manual capture
If the automatic detection does not trigger, you can capture manually:
- Open the Brikly side panel by clicking the toolbar icon.
- Click Capture Invoice.
- Select the file or drag it into the side panel.
- Click Send to Brikly.
Sending to Brikly
Once an invoice is sent, it appears in your Invoice Processing queue in Brikly exactly as if you had uploaded it manually. The same AI extraction, matching, and learning process applies.
You can continue browsing the supplier portal or move to another supplier - the extension handles the transfer in the background.
Benefits over manual download-and-upload
| Manual workflow | With extension |
|---|---|
| Download file to your computer | File goes straight to Brikly |
| Switch to Brikly and upload | No switching needed |
| Clean up downloaded files | No files cluttering your downloads folder |
| 4+ clicks per invoice | 1 click per invoice |
For teams that process invoices from multiple supplier portals each week, the extension saves significant time and keeps the workflow seamless.
The extension is especially useful during a busy morning when multiple deliveries arrive and you need to process invoices from several suppliers quickly. Open each portal in a tab, capture the invoices, and review them all in Brikly afterwards.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Extension not detecting downloads | Make sure the extension is enabled and you are signed in. Check that the file is a supported format (PDF, PNG, JPEG). |
| Side panel not opening | Try clicking the Brikly icon in the toolbar. If it does not appear, check chrome://extensions to ensure the extension is enabled. |
| File not appearing in Brikly | Check your internet connection. The extension needs an active connection to send files. Try sending again from the side panel. |
| Wrong workspace selected | Open the side panel and switch to the correct workspace before sending. |
