COSHH register

The COSHH register is your list of the cleaning chemicals and other hazardous substances used on site, with each one's safety data sheet and a record of which staff have read it. Open it from Records > COSHH Register, or the COSHH Register card on the dashboard.

What it shows

Three tiles at the top give the headline numbers:

  • Chemicals Registered - how many chemicals are on the register
  • Data Sheets Uploaded - how many of them have a data sheet attached
  • Acknowledgement Coverage - how well your team has acknowledged the current data sheets

Below that, the table lists each chemical with what it's used for, where it's stored, the PPE needed, its data sheet, and Acks (how many staff have acknowledged the current version of its data sheet). If you run more than one site, a Location column shows where each chemical is kept.

Adding a chemical

Click Add Chemical and fill in the name, brand, what it's used for, storage location, dilution ratio, PPE required and first aid instructions. If you run more than one site, pick the location it belongs to.

Chemicals found in your paperwork during setup are added for you, with their data sheets attached.

Data sheets

Each chemical can have one data sheet, as a PDF or a photo:

  • Upload - use the upload button in the Data Sheet column. A chemical with no sheet shows an amber Missing badge.
  • Open - click the green version badge (for example v2). The sheet opens in a new tab.
  • Replace - upload a new sheet over the old one when the supplier sends an updated version. The version number goes up, and Acks counts acknowledgements of the new version.

Data sheets are private to your business. Each time you open one, SafetyBrik makes a link that expires after 15 minutes, so a sheet can't be passed around by forwarding an old link. Just click the badge again whenever you need it.

If a chemical has been removed in the meantime, you see "That chemical could not be found. Refresh the page and try again."

Where it feeds in

  • Cleaning schedule - link a chemical to a cleaning task, and SafetyBrik suggests the PPE from its data sheet.
  • Safety score - the COSHH part of the score is the average of how many chemicals have a data sheet and how well they have been acknowledged.
  • Dashboard alerts - chemicals missing data sheets, or awaiting staff acknowledgement.
  • EHO Report Pack - the COSHH Chemical Register section lists your chemicals.
  • Audit log - adding, updating or removing a chemical, updating a data sheet and acknowledging one are all recorded, with who did it.
