Staff training
SafetyBrik is the digital replacement for the SFBB (Safer Food Better Business) pack. Training records are one of the proof pieces an EHO will ask to see on a visit, and one of the things a manager should review every month. This section is where you keep them.
Open it from /safety/staff-training.
What it does today
Today, the Staff training section is a certificate log. It captures the certificates your team already hold and tracks when they need renewing. Typical certificates include:
- Level 1, 2 and 3 food hygiene
- Allergen awareness
- Manual handling
- First aid at work
- Health and safety inductions
- Any custom certificate you want to track (e.g. barista training, COSHH awareness)
For each employee you record the certificate type, when it was issued, when it expires, and (optionally) a PDF or photo of the certificate itself.
Interactive course delivery, AI-detected training gaps and module assignment will live in the TeamBrik training portal, which is on the roadmap. SafetyBrik will continue to own the certificate log and the EHO-facing proof. For now, treat Staff training as your records layer, not a course-delivery system.
The dashboard
The landing page at /safety/staff-training shows three summary tiles at the top:
- Staff tracked - how many employees have at least one record (or are pulled in from StaffBrik)
- Mandatory coverage - the percentage of mandatory cert types your team currently holds
- Expiring in 30 days - how many certs are about to lapse
Below that, a matrix lists every member of staff against your mandatory certificate types. Each cell shows a status badge - valid, expiring soon, expired, or missing - so you can see gaps at a glance.
Click on any name to open that employee's full training history.
Where staff come from
If you have StaffBrik installed, your active employees are pulled through automatically and the dashboard subtitle reads "Tracking active employees from StaffBrik". You will see your roster without doing any extra work.
If StaffBrik is not installed, employees appear in the matrix as soon as you add a training record for them. You can type a name in by hand on the record form. Installing StaffBrik later will sync the official roster across.
Per-employee view
The employee detail page sits at /safety/staff-training/staff/:employeeKey. It shows:
- Every active certificate type
- The latest record on file for each one (issued date, expiry date, current status)
- A "Show full history" expander for any cert you have renewed multiple times
This is the screen you open during a one-to-one or a 4-weekly review to see exactly where someone stands. It is also where you log a renewal when a cert is about to expire.
