Announcements

Announcements are short posts for your team: a new menu going live, a change to opening hours, a reminder about the Christmas rota. They appear in the Team App feed, and staff can get a phone notification when one is posted.

Posting an Announcement

  1. Go to StaffBrik > Team App. The Announcements tab opens first.
  2. Click New Announcement.
  3. Choose whether to post under your own name or your business's name.
  4. Add a title (optional) and your message. You can attach up to five images.
  5. Choose who it is for (see below).
  6. Click Post Announcement.

Owners, admins and members can post from the web app. In the Team App, staff with Owner or Manager access can post too.

Choosing Who It Reaches

Two settings decide who sees an announcement:

  • Location - All locations reaches everyone. Choose one site to reach only the staff whose primary location is that site.
  • Target roles - leave it empty to reach every role, or add roles to reach only the staff in them.

Only staff with Team App access see announcements. Archived staff never do.

Seeing Who It Will Reach

Below the location and roles, the composer tells you who the announcement will reach before you post it, and counts again whenever you change the location or roles:

  • How many staff will see it in the Team App, for example "This will reach 12 staff in the Team App."
  • How many will also get a phone notification, for example "9 of them will also get a phone notification." Staff without phone notifications for team updates still see it next time they open the app.
  • If nobody will see it, it says why. "Nobody will see this yet, because none of your team use the Team App" means nobody has app access yet, and the composer points you to the Team page to turn it on.

While a new count is loading, the previous figures are dimmed so they are not mistaken for the new ones. If the count cannot be loaded, the composer says so, and you can still post.

Staff Who Will Miss It

When you aim an announcement at one location, some staff can miss it without you realising. The composer warns you about them by name:

  • No location set - for example "2 staff have no location set, so they will not see this (Amy Smith and Ben Jones)."
  • Set to a location that is no longer active - staff whose primary location is a site you have since closed.

Each warning links to the Team page, where you can set or change their location. The link opens in a new tab, so the announcement you are writing is kept.

tip

If you run one site, new staff are given it as their primary location automatically, so this warning mostly matters for multi-site businesses and for staff added before that.

After Posting

Each announcement in the list shows who it was aimed at, naming the location (or All locations) and any target roles. The phone notification goes to the staff the announcement reaches, and nothing is sent if the announcement is deleted before the notification goes out.
