Navigating the Dashboard

The Brikly dashboard is designed to give you a clear picture of your business at a glance, with quick access to the tools you use most. Here's a tour of the main areas.

Dashboard layout

When you log in, you'll land on your Home Dashboard. This is your operational overview - a single screen that surfaces the most important numbers and actions across all your active Briks.

The dashboard is made up of:

  1. Header - the top bar with your logo, notifications, settings, and account menu.
  2. Sidebar - your primary navigation, always visible on the left (collapsible on desktop, toggled via a menu button on mobile).
  3. Snapshot cards - key metrics displayed prominently in the main content area.
  4. Quick actions - shortcut buttons to common tasks like creating recipes or uploading invoices.
  5. Alerts panel - a unified view of alerts from across your active Briks.

The header runs along the top of every page and gives you quick access to:

  • Brikly logo - click to return to the dashboard.
  • Docs - opens the Brikly documentation site.
  • Report an issue - lets you flag a bug or problem directly.
  • Notifications - a bell icon showing unread notifications.
  • Settings - a gear icon linking to your account settings.
  • Account menu - your avatar in the top-right corner. Click it to access settings, notifications, or log out.

The sidebar is your main way of moving around Brikly. It's organised into sections:

  • Home - returns you to the main dashboard from anywhere.
  • Invoices - access invoice processing, shared across all Briks.
  • POS Sync - if you've connected a point-of-sale system, you'll see links to the Item Mapper and Modifier Mapper here.
  • Active Briks - each Brik you've activated gets its own collapsible section. For example, if you have CostingBrik active, you'll see links to Dashboard, Ingredients, Recipes, Consumables, and Suppliers nested under it.

You can collapse individual Brik sections to keep the navigation tidy, or collapse the entire sidebar to an icon-only view using the button at the top of the sidebar.

tip

On mobile, the sidebar is hidden by default. Tap the menu button in the top-left corner to open it, and it will close automatically when you navigate to a page.

Snapshot cards

The snapshot cards on your dashboard give you an at-a-glance view of your key metrics. What you see depends on which Briks you have active:

  • CostingBrik - total recipes (with average margin), ingredient count (with optimisation opportunities), and price reviews pending.
  • StaffBrik - active team members, alerts (with critical count), and pending return-to-work approvals.
  • Invoice snapshot - a summary of invoices awaiting processing (shown on the right side on desktop).

Each card is clickable - tap it to go straight to the relevant detail view.

Quick actions

Below the snapshot cards, the Quick Actions section gives you fast access to common tasks:

  • Create Recipe - jump straight into the recipe builder (CostingBrik).
  • Upload Invoice - open the invoice upload dialog.
  • Open Rota - go to the rota builder (StaffBrik).
  • Record Absence - log an absence for a team member (StaffBrik).

The actions shown adapt based on which Briks you have active and your permissions.

Switching between Briks

Click any Brik's name in the sidebar to expand its sub-navigation and jump to its dashboard or a specific page. On desktop with the sidebar collapsed, clicking a Brik icon navigates directly to that Brik's dashboard. Double-clicking expands the sidebar and opens the Brik's sub-menu.

Location filtering

If you operate multiple locations, you'll see location selectors on relevant pages such as invoice uploads and the item mapper. These let you filter data by a specific site.
